What medication management includes.
Medication management at Vitality means an evaluation with a psychiatric prescriber, a plan built with you, and regular follow-ups, coordinated with your therapy when you have both.
Evaluation
Your prescriber reviews your history, symptoms and goals to decide whether medication is appropriate.
Treatment plan
If medication can help, you agree on a plan together, including what to watch for and when to check in.
Follow-up
Regular visits to see how you're doing and adjust as needed, in person or by telehealth.

Some clients benefit from medication alongside counseling. At Vitality you don't need to visit separate practices: your prescriber and therapist work in the same clinic and can coordinate your care.

Medication and refill policies.
These policies keep prescriptions safe and on time for every patient.
- Keep a follow-up appointment on your schedule. Refills, including maintenance medications, need an active follow-up appointment.
- If you miss or cancel an appointment and don't reschedule, refills can't be provided.
- Schedule II medications (such as Adderall, Vyvanse and Ritalin) and benzodiazepines can't be refilled after a missed or canceled visit.
- Check with your pharmacy first: ask them to look at "prescriptions on file" and "future-dated prescriptions." If we have to troubleshoot an issue this step would have caught, a $30 administrative fee applies.
- Urgent refills (less than 24 hours' notice, for example for travel or lost medication) are at your provider's discretion, with a $100 urgent processing fee if approved.
- We don't accept refill requests sent by pharmacies.

Medication management questions.
What is psychiatric medication management?
Medication management is ongoing care with a psychiatric prescriber: an evaluation, a treatment plan, prescribing when medication is appropriate, and regular follow-up visits to see how you're doing and adjust as needed.
Who are Vitality's prescribers?
Rosalie Casano, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist, and board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners Gracie Smith, Rachael Stout, Danielle Pugh.
Can I see a prescriber by telehealth?
Yes. Gracie Smith, Rachael Stout, Danielle Pugh offer telehealth. Rosalie Casano sees patients in person in Madison.
How do I request a refill?
Refills need an active follow-up appointment, and medication changes are made during scheduled visits. Before you send a refill request, ask your pharmacy to check "prescriptions on file" and "future-dated prescriptions"; controlled medications don't show up under "refills," and this step prevents most delays. Then send routine requests to care@vitalitycounsel.com. We don't accept refill requests sent by pharmacies.
Will I be billed for messages to my prescriber?
Messages that take five minutes or more of medical expertise, such as medication changes or new symptoms, may be billed to insurance; the most you could owe is $50. Scheduling and follow-ups on care from the last seven days are free. See the details.
Do I also need to be in therapy?
Many clients benefit from both, and because therapy and medication management are under one roof, your therapist and prescriber can coordinate. Ask our team what makes sense for you.
