Using your insurance at Vitality.

Vitality clinicians accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, Tricare and other plans, and some see clients out of network. Coverage depends on your clinician and your plan, so here's how to check before your first visit.

Check your coverage

Call your insurance company first.

To find out whether you have mental health coverage, call the number on your insurance card. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand the answers. Helpful questions to ask:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
  • How much does my plan pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Self-pay & superbills

If you'd rather not use insurance.

If your insurance isn't accepted, we offer options such as self-pay and superbills.

Paying out of pocket keeps your therapy more private: none of your records, diagnostic information or authorizations go through insurance. Some Vitality therapists also aren't paneled with insurance, so self-pay lets you work with the clinician who feels like the best fit.

If self-pay isn't feasible for you, we'll help you find alternatives.

Payment & cancellations

Paying for care, and changing plans.

Payment

Insurance, cash, check or card

We accept insurance, cash, check and cards. Co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles are due before your appointment begins, and every client keeps a credit or debit card on file. To use insurance, upload a current copy of your card (front and back) in the SimplePractice Client Portal before your visit.

Cancellations

24 hours' notice

Life happens, and plans change. Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment. That notice lets us offer the time to someone else who's waiting to be seen. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged a $100 fee, and arriving more than 10 minutes late counts as a missed appointment that will need to be rescheduled. After three missed appointments in 12 months, we may have to end care with the practice.

Questions

Insurance and billing questions.

Does Vitality Counseling take insurance?

Yes. Each clinician is paneled with different insurance companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Medicare and Tricare, and some see clients out of network. Check the tables on this page, then confirm with your clinician and your insurance company.

What if my insurance isn't accepted?

We offer options such as self-pay and superbills. A superbill is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What should I ask my insurance company?
  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
  • How much does my plan pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Can I message my provider between appointments?

When are balances due?

Balances are due in full within 30 days of notice. If you think a balance is wrong, let us know and we'll review it with you. For clients under 18, the parent or legal guardian who brings them to the appointment is responsible for payment.
